Peter Dressel, Loft 4A

Warren Lofts, a former office headquarters for a horticultural seed purveyor & exporter, has been converted from its office use into a boutique residential condominium including sixteen flats and two duplex units. The existing brick, limestone and decorative soapstone building was restored, and a new travertine and bronze storefront were added to the base of the building. The new residential lobby includes a planted green wall in homage to the building’s history.

The original Art Deco building is also topped by four new floors clad in reflective stainless steel which is brought to a bronze color through a heat treatment to complement the existing brick building and context. Earth-toned materials were used on the inside such as wide-plank fumed oak floors and bronze hardware and fittings. 11-foot high ceilings recall the scale of traditional lofts in the neighborhood while new and existing oversized windows frame views of the surrounding city from the living spaces.
