Jason Ivaliotis joined the New York office of Handel Architects in 2013 and has served as Project Manager for a diverse range of projects. He is currently managing the design and construction administration for two buildings in Manhattan’s Essex Crossing Development, 115 Delancey Street and 180 Broome Street. The Essex Crossing sites are distinguished by the complexity of their programming which is anchored by over 450 units of mixed income housing (half of which is designated as permanently affordable), a 15,000 sq. ft. rooftop urban farm, a new and expanded Essex Street Market, a 14 screen Regal Cineplex, 140,000 sq. ft. of office space and a diverse mix of retail components which includes the Market Line - a natural light-filled concourse spanning the lower levels of three Essex Crossing buildings and connected via pedestrian tunnels below the streetscape of Manhattan’s Lower East Side neighborhood.
Jason holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Miami University and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University where he graduated with an Honor Award for Excellence in Design. While working as a licensed professional in New York and New Jersey, Jason has remained connected to the innovative centers of academic research, serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Architecture at Columbia University GSAPP and a Visiting Professor at the Parsons New School of Design. He has also lectured at the University of Pennsylvania, Pratt Institute, NJIT and the Center for Architecture in New York.
Prior to joining Handel Architects, Jason worked as a project designer for HNTB Architecture, leading the design of Boston’s South Station Redevelopment as well as various intermodal transportation centers in Florida, New York, Philadelphia, Maryland and Virginia.
