Seth Riseman
Associate Principal
Seth Riseman is an Associate Principal at Handel Architects, with over thirteen years of experience in mixed-use building and urban design projects around the world. Recent notable projects include the new mixed-use tower at 115 Winthrop Square in Boston’s Financial District; The Bower, a new 125-unit condominium building in Washington DC’s Navy Yard neighborhood; Journal Squared, a 2.5 million sq. ft. residential, retail, and parking project in Jersey City, NJ; and Hollywood Center, a multi-phased mixed-use development across four acres and two sites in the historic core of Hollywood, CA.
Prior to joining Handel, Mr. Riseman was an architectural and urban designer at Utile in Boston. Throughout his career, he has worked on an array of urban design and mixed-use building projects. in Massachusetts, California, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Minnesota and Washington D.C. as well as abroad in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the U.A.E. and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
Mr. Riseman is a current co-chair of the Boston Society of Architect’s Urban Design Committee. Mr. Riseman has lectured and taught at the Northeastern University and the Boston Architectural College. His writing has been published in Urban Land Magazine and the American Planners Association regional journal. Mr. Riseman contributed to the publication of “Modeling the Pro-Forma, Integrating Financial Analysis with Site Responsive Urban Design” for the Corporations and Cities Conference at University of Delft and the “Urbanism Starter Kit” for the Yale University School of Architecture. Mr. Riseman’s work has been recognized with numerous awards including the Urban Land Institute / Gerald D. Hines Urban Design Competition, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston’s Affordable Housing Design Competition, Harvard University’s In the Pursuit of Housing Award, and the Awahnee Institute’s Award for Regional Planning.
