South Boston Innovation Campus

Client MP Boston
Location Boston, MA
Status Concept Only

The South Boston Innovation Campus creates a new workplace destination, designed to transform and strengthen the city's economy.

Situated on 11-acres in the South Boston waterfront, this proposed 2M sq.ft. mixed-use development features a multi-phased combination of office, research & development, retail, market, and light-industrial uses clustered around a central open space – the campus commons. The design embraces the existing light-industrial uses and the character of the surrounding neighborhood, while providing distinctive open spaces, amenities, and experiences to attract employers, employees, and the surrounding community.

Recognizing that increasing mobility between the South Boston Waterfront, Downtown, and the South Boston residential community is key to the ongoing success of the project and the neighborhood, a significant investment in mass transit has been proposed as part of the project. The South Boston Cableway, an aerial cable-propelled urban mass transit system, will add substantial new capacity to this area of Boston drastically underserved by public transportation options.
