OneEleven Opens on Chicago River

Handel Architects’ OneEleven opened in Chicago last month, creating a dynamic new presence on the Chicago River. Designed for Related Midwest, the site housed an abandoned 25-story structure, which was to have been the base of a then-planned 90-story tower. One Eleven, completed at 60-stories, houses over 500 residences. Designed as a series of interlocking blocks, the tower responds to both the river and its neighbors in the form of a cut that runs from the base to the penthouses, wrapping the building in a recessed glass ribbon
