Asbury Ocean Club Hotel and Residences
The Asbury Ocean Club Hotel embraces the beachfront with a gentle curve, reflecting the nature of the shoreline.
Located in the burgeoning town of Asbury Park, the Asbury Ocean Club Hotel and Residences is a mixed-use beachfront project designed as an homage to the beach house vernacular – simple materials, open, light and airy. The 17-story building offers sweeping vistas of the Atlantic, and the tower's balconies extend out to accentuate the horizontal quality of the views.
The building features a 54-room boutique hotel operated by Salt Hotels, with 130 residential units above.
Retail lines the street along Ocean Avenue, and anchors the two corners at Kingsley Street, one block in.
A thin curtain of folded metal wraps the exterior of the ground floor, interrupted by expanses of glass and entryways.
The metal pieces angle away from one another reflecting the light and provide both transparency and screening. Above, thin horizontal slats do the same for the amenity and parking program.
We designed the lobby to feel open and bright.
The lobby space is shared by both residents and hotel guests and is defined by light stone and slatted wood. The reception desk is clean and angular and matches the lightly scored patterning of the floor.
All residential units include a wraparound terrace and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Residential interiors, by Handel Architects, feature all-Miele kitchen appliances, white lacquered custom cabinetry by Spazzi of Italy, wide-plank, bleached white oak engineered hardwood flooring, engineered stone countertops, hansgrohe kitchen and bath fixtures, polished porcelain Marvel Calacatta walls in bathrooms, and walk-in rain showers.
