Link Apartments QPN
Link Apartments QPN includes over 400 apartments as well as a new accessible entrance to the 7, N and W lines at Queensboro Plaza.
Link Apartments QPN is a new 417-unit rental building located directly north of the Queensboro Plaza subway station in Long Island City, Queens. The project includes 417 residential units and a variety of indoor and outdoor amenities including a linear gallery, a landscaped courtyard, and an outdoor pool.
The building is organized as a slender tower that sits atop a block-wide podium. The 11-story podium visually ties the building to its adjacent mid-rise neighbors and frames a central courtyard for the residents as well as offers outdoor space for F&B. Above, the 26-story tower is separated from the podium by a glass reveal that also cuts through the podium vertically and marks the accessible entrance to the subway station. A dark brick façade ties podium to tower and is defined by a pattern of alternating-sized windows; at the tower top, this pattern extends the facade past the top floor and encloses the rooftop amenities.
Interiors were inspired by the variety of art institutions and galleries in the Long Island City neighborhood.
The lobby was designed to be part of a gallery “art walk” that invites not only residents but people from the community to pass through. The art theme runs through the entire property and is reinforced with a minimalist color palette and material selections such as concrete floors and columns and exposed rough hewn wood beam ceilings that are meant to showcase the art in the spaces. The exposed wood beams were salvaged and repurposed from the buildings that were formerly on the site. Outside, the garden courtyard continues the gallery feel by doubling as a sculpture garden.
