330 Madison Interiors
Handel Architects reimagined the interior experience at 330 Madison to embrace a connection to the outdoors and nearby Bryant Park.
Handel Architects led the interior renovation of this 1964 office building in Midtown Manhattan. While the exterior had been renovated back in 2012, the interior spaces were dated and needed to be brought up to contemporary standards. Handel Architects' design brings a new tone, character and standard for the building.
The lobby and ground floor level was redesigned to incorporate natural materials, wellness-focused amenities, work/play spaces and an extensive art collection.
Twenty-four floors above, Handel Architects redesigned that floor's suite to attract a tenant that would be interested in the amazing views to Bryant Park, extensive use of natural materials, and an attention to detail. Instead of entering into a dark foyer like in so many buildings, the space was organized so that employees and visitors immediately see natural light and long views out of the building. An art wall at the elevator lobby incorporates lighting and recessed art hangers into the ceiling, while a curved wood wall leads guests from the elevator area into the suite itself.
The phasing out of a receptionist left an opportunity for a gallery to display art and create a conversation nook. The extensive use of video calling that occurs today meant that room acoustics were especially important. Double-glazed office fronts maintain privacy; ceiling and wall acoustic baffles are incorporated in all meeting rooms and offices.
