Link Apartments 8 Carlisle
Link Apartments 8 Carlisle features stacked projecting glass corners to create a dynamic street level experience.
Link Apartments 8 Carlisle is a new multifamily residential tower in New York City's Financial District. The project is targeted to reach the growing number of people that are calling this area home. Smaller units in primarily studio and 1BR configurations are aimed at the 35-year old median age demographic of the neighborhood.
The upper tower is organized by a regular vertical and horizontal frame, creating a tight modular grid of windows. The façade uses a light warm-grey cladding, with projecting vertical piers and horizontal spandrel bands that give the tower depth.
At the lower levels the building becomes more articulated with several projecting glass volumes that step out from the main façade. These create a layered corner expression and give the building a more sculptural profile at the street intersection. The ground floor and lower levels feature double-height glazing, recessed entries, and slender vertical mullions, giving the street frontage an active presence. The transparency helps lighten the mass of the tower above.
