Artwalk Towers
The Artwalk Towers will use contrasting folded metal panels to create a visual gradient effect as the towers rise.
Artwalk Towers is a transformative new development in Jersey City’s Journal Square neighborhood, adjacent to the historic Loew’s Theatre and the Journal Square PATH station. The project includes two high-rise residential towers placed offset from one another in an elongated site that has been organized around a vibrant landscaped pedestrian plaza and walk.
The 49- and 55-story towers have been designed to visually relate to one another without being twins. Contrasting folded metal panels create a visual gradient effect, lightening the towers as they rise. Each tower is topped with a crown that culminates the architecture of the towers with their distinctive forms.
The towers will anchor a new cultural Art Walk, leading pedestrians from the PATH Station towards the MANA Art Center and the burgeoning Arts District around it. Experiences along the Art Walk will include a café, gallery, small event spaces, landscaped terraces, art murals, and sculpture by local artists. The site will also support the newly renovated Loew’s Theatre through landscaping elements as well as by providing space for a critical new loading space.
808 Pavonia will include over 1,100 rental units, 60 of which are designated affordable.
Inside, the building lobbies will be a stage for local art and provide space for social gathering. Art will appear throughout the interior, including the amenity and public circulation spaces.
