Four Seasons Private Residences at 706 Mission creates a new sculptural presence in the Yerba Buena redevelopment district.

Four Seasons Private Residences at 706 Mission is a new luxury residential project located in the heart of the downtown San Francisco Yerba Buena District. The 43-story tower houses 148 residences, while the adjacent historic Aronson Building has been restored and rehabilitated and features an additional 10 units. The first four floors of the two buildings connect and share space, which has been designed as a new home for The Mexican Museum.

The massing of the building was sculpted to form a series of alternating glass and masonry volumes. The tower takes design cues from the linear landscaping that defines the adjacent Jessie Square Plaza, while the top mirrors the diversity of the surrounding building context.

At the street level, the repurposed Aronson Building helps to maintain pedestrian rhythm and scale, while transitioning the massing upward to the tower. From Jessie Square visitors are able to access the Mexican Museum, while private residents of the building enter via a discrete drop off area off of 3rd Street.

The adjacent Aronson Building helps maintain a pedestrian scale.

Originally designed by San Francisco architecture firm Hemenway & Miller, the Aronson Building survived both the 1906 earthquake & fire and the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, and stands today looking much as it did in 1906. It is significant for its design which is recognized as the most elaborate design in the Chicago School style.
