The Beacon at Garvies Point

Client RXR Development
Location Glen Cove, NY
Status Completed in 2020

The Beacon combines rustic exteriors with modern interiors to create spaces that are both warm and contemporary.

The Beacon at Garvies Point is a new 167-unit condominium development on the Glen Cove waterfront on Long Island, just outside of New York City. The building is sited to maximize views, while materials were selected to integrate the building into the rustic nature of the surroundings. “Old moss” brick creates a warm texture, while oversized windows framed in black metal give the building a modern edge. Two dozen units have private stairways leading to a rooftop terrace; these glass risers hover above the roofline and light up at night.

Inside, a double-height lobby with a white marble feature wall is bookended by warm, wooden panel. A portion of the marble is cut away to reveal the amenity space on the second floor, accessible by a bronze metal staircase with travertine treads. The reception desk combines the dark wood from the walls with the same bronze metal.

Amenity spaces include a fitness center, yoga studio, library, lounge with fireplace, screening room and an outdoor swimming pool.
