SSI Tower

Client PT TCT Internusa
Location Jakarta, Indonesia
Project Type Office & Workplace
Status Concept Only

The SSI Tower was designed as a series of vertical planes slicing the tower into smaller volumes.

Designed for PT TCP Internusa in Jakarta, the 700-foot SSI Tower in Jakarta was designed to include 1 million sq. ft. of Class-A office space, atop a 3-story retail podium.

The project is located along HR Rasuna Said, one of the major roadways in the Central Business District of Jakarta. The site is situated adjacent to the Embassies of Brittan, Netherlands, Australia, Singapore, and India. The design for the tower took cues from the Gran Melia Hotel, with a swooping roofline to match the hotel’s own. The tower’s broad face maximizes views towards the central business district, while providing the first in a series of vertical planes that divide the building. Horizontal and vertical fins have been arranged to maximize shading and to reduce cooling loads for the building. Horizontal fins along the Rasuna Said street facade are interrupted only at the top of the tower to frame an open green space.

Handel Architects’ scope also included new ballroom and meeting facilities for the adjacent Gran Melia Hotel.
