The Central at 5th
The Central at 5th is clad with a folded aluminum rain screen, designed to play with the light and shadow.
The Central at 5th is a new 32-story tower on East 48th Street in Manhattan’s Special Midtown District, on a through-block site. The building consists of timeshare hotel units which are managed by Hilton, as well as ground floor retail.
Inspired by the depth and articulation of historic Midtown Manhattan building facades, the building's façade is a folded aluminum rain screen, designed to play with the light and shadow throughout the day. Floor-to-ceiling windows are framed by the metal screen, and expand in width as the building rises, giving a sense of motion to the tower.
