The Corner
The Corner's design takes full advantage of the angle of the intersection, maximizing views and street frontage.
The Corner is a 20-story mixed-use residential building that anchors the southwest corner of Broadway and West 72nd Street. The design takes full advantage of the obtuse angle of the intersection, which becomes the dominate feature of the building. The 118-degree angle of the site allows the two glass facades to present themselves simultaneously, while wrapping together to read as one continuous and wave-like facade.
At the ground level, an unbroken line of glass runs up Broadway and gently curves onto West 72nd Street, terminating at the upturned wooden slats of the residential canopy that marks the residential entrance. The 48,000 sq. ft. of retail extends another floor up - also fully transparent - as well as three floor below grade, occupied by grocery store Trader Joe’s.
Above, 17 floors contain 196 luxury rental units and a common planted roof deck with sweeping views of the city.
