Sustainable Design Director Louis Koehl and Denver Office Director Ryan Lobello were among the presenters in Denver at the 2023 Passive House Network Conference. Together with Dylan Martello from Steven Winter Associates, their talk focused on the potential energy savings, health/wellness benefits, and resiliency opportunities that large-scale Passive House could bring to the American West. They demonstrated how to achieve the Passive House standard in these regions by taking the smallest building in Sendero Verde (80 units) and placing it in two hypothetical sites in Denver and San Francisco, and walking through the specific adjustments to the building that would be required to comply with Passive House in these climates.
