619 Ponce, mass timber next to Ponce City Market, begins construction in Atlanta

619 Ponce now under construction in the city’s Old Fourth Ward, next door to Ponce City Market.

619 Ponce is Handel Architects' newest office building, and will include 85,000 square feet of commercial office and 25,000 square feet of retail. The building is being constructed with local, Georgia-grown timber and targeting net neutral operational carbon.

Timber was chosen because it allowed the team to maximize daylight into the office spaces while creating a feeling of warmth through the abundance of exposed wood. The project is being built with CLT and Glulam, manufactured using locally-sourced, Georgia-grown Southern Yellow Pine. Balcones on three of the four faces of the building, as well as an expansive roof deck, will provide tenants with a direct connection to the outdoors.

Congrats to the Handel team of Nathan Ellenberger, Aditi Pancholi, Shridhuli Solanki, Youngah Ko, Begum Baysun, Juhee Chung, Stefano Bennett, Behzad Gharehjanloo, Rodrigo Castroviejo, Lindsey Sinisi, Valeria Flores, Ryan Lobello, and Blake Middleton!
