Today the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, along with Handel Architects Partner Michael Arad and PWP's Peter Walker, unveiled the design for a new memorial space dedicated to those who have suffered in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. The space is designed to feel as an organic and integral part of the National September 11 Memorial. Called the "Tribute to Rescue & Recovery Workers and Others Who Suffered in the Aftermath of the 9/11 Attacks," the design creates a new pathway through that beautiful, tranquil space that roughly mirrors the location of the main ramp used by the rescue and recovery workers through their herculean nine-month effort—through which these men and women toiled and sacrificed, and in so doing provided hope and inspiration to the nation. This new path ends near the Survivor Tree, a beloved symbol of New York’s resilience.
