Rick Kearns
Principal
Rick Kearns is a Principal at Handel Architects, which he joined in 1997. He has over 20 years of experience with the design and management of a variety of project types including high-end residential buildings, mixed-use hospitality buildings, and corporate interiors projects.
Mr. Kearns recently served as Project Manager for the renovation of the 500,000 sq.ft. Pier 57, located on the Hudson River which includes office, retail and a new rooftop park. Prior to that, he served as Project Manager for Asbury Ocean Club Hotel and Residences in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Previously, Mr. Kearns led the design for several residential projects situated on the Hudson River waterfront at the base of the Palisades in Weehawken, New Jersey.
Completed work includes the new Grace Farms Community Center in New Canaan, Connecticut; One Charles, a residential project in Boston; 255 Hudson, an 11-story residential condominium in West SoHo; Warren Lofts, a condo renovation/addition to an existing early 1900's loft in Tribeca; and the Millennium Tower Residences, 35-story, LEED Gold residential building in Battery Park City. For the Ritz-Carlton Downtown at Battery Park City, Mr. Kearns contributed to the design, documentation, and construction administration of the exterior wall. Mr. Kearns was also the Project Manager for the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences in San Francisco, for which he planned and coordinated 20 floors of residential units.
Prior to joining Handel Architects, Mr. Kearns was a Project Manager and Designer with Lacina Group in New York City where he managed the design of a private residence in the Hamptons and the interiors for the New York offices of the Consulate General of Ecuador.
Mr. Kearns holds a Bachelor of Design from the University of Florida and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.
