Stephen Hegedus, AIA
Senior Associate
Stephen Hegedus joined Handel Architects as a Senior Associate in 2022, bringing 25 years of experience in projects in a variety of scales.
Stephen is an expert in residential design, with a focus on exploring architecture’s relationship to the public realm. He has led teams through all phases of a project’s lifecycle. Prior work includes leading the team's efforts in Austin on the Four Seasons Private Residences at Lake Austin as well as a mixed-use development at 34th & Brighton in Denver.
Prior to joining Handel, Stephen held leadership positions at
WRNS Studio, BAR Architects and David Baker Architects where he has
successfully built over 2,300 units of housing in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Stephen is a licensed architect in California. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) after studying industrial design at California State University, Northridge with an emphasis on furniture design. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, The Urban Land Institute, San Francisco Planning + Urban Research (SPUR) and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.
