Antonio Donofrio, AIA
Principal
Antonio Donofrio is a Principal at Handel Architects, which he joined in 2004. He has nearly 25 years of experience as an architect in New York City, designing and managing a variety of project types, including public facilities, office buildings, hotels, residential buildings, and educational facilities.
Mr. Donofrio has served as Project Manager for Handel Architects’ work in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn since 2006. Beginning with a 22-acre master plan, Mr. Donofrio led that work, as well as each of the seven successive buildings: 7 Bell Slip, 5 Blue Slip, 33 Eagle Street, One Blue Slip, Two Blue Slip, The Bellslip, and 35 Commercial Street. He is currently serving as Principal in Charge on the firm’s newest building there, at Site C.
Mr. Donofrio previously served as Principal in Charge for Howard Hughes Corporation’s new residential development in Columbia, Maryland. He served in a similar capacity for the NYC Parks Department’s Idlewild Nature Center, located in Queens, and the Flushing Meadows Corona Park Natatorium & Ice Rink, also in Queens for the NYC Parks Department.
Mr. Donofrio holds a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from City College of New York. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the US Green Building Council, and the Architectural Leadership Committee of the New York Building Congress. Mr. Donofrio is a licensed architect in New York State.
