Mindy Shields joined Handel Architects in 2008 and has led the coordination of several large, complex projects including two renovation and restoration jobs for Macklowe Properties on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The 359-unit residential tower, currently under construction, is part of Handel Architects' master plan of 22-acres and will include over 5,000 residential units, retail, and a new public school. She was also heavily involved in the design of 5 Blue Slip, 7 Bell Slip, and 33 Eagle Street, the first three affordable buildings constructed as part of the Greenpoint Landing development. Ms. Shields has previously worked on several large scale mixed-use international projects including the Rosewood Abu Dhabi, a hotel and mixed-use complex, and the Shangri-La at the Fort in Manila.
Prior to joining Handel Architects, Ms. Shields led teams on several large residential projects in Manhattan and Queens, including a Landmarked conversion in Manhattan’s Ladies Mile Historic District. At Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn Architects, Ms. Shields worked on several successful masterplan and ULURP applications including that for Cooper Union in Manhattan.
