    Mindy Shields LEED AP

    Senior Associate

    Mindy Shields joined Handel Architects in 2008 and has led the coordination of several large, complex projects including two renovation and restoration jobs for Macklowe Properties on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a number of major multifamily residential buildings in Brooklyn, and international mixed-use projects in Abu Dhabi and Manila.

    Current work includes serving as Project Manager for 1 Bell Slip, a new 410-unit residential tower which is part of Handel Architects' master plan of 22-acres on the Greenpoint, Brooklyn, waterfront. Ms. Shields previously managed the design and construction of One Blue Slip nearby, a 359-unit residential tower that opened in 2018, and Two Blue Slip, a 421-unit tower next door that opened in 2020. She was also heavily involved in the design of 5 Blue Slip, 7 Bell Slip, and 33 Eagle Street, the first three affordable buildings constructed as part of the Greenpoint Landing development.

    Ms. Shields has previously worked on several large scale mixed-use international projects including the Rosewood Abu Dhabi, a hotel and mixed-use complex, and the Shangri-La at the Fort in Manila.

    Prior to joining Handel Architects, Ms. Shields led teams on several large residential projects in Manhattan and Queens, including a Landmarked conversion in Manhattan’s Ladies Mile Historic District. At Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn Architects, Ms. Shields worked on several successful masterplan and ULURP applications including that for Cooper Union in Manhattan.

    Ms. Shields received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kansas where she was a recipient of the Ewart Traveling Scholarship. She is a LEED-Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building Council.
